Brian Franklin in Bridal Guide: Don’t Leave Your Ceremony Script to the Last Minute

Bridal Guide featured Brian Franklin, founder of Vows & Speeches, in a roundup of the wedding planning tasks couples leave until the last minute — and his contribution was the one closest to our heart: the actual words of the ceremony.

“Couples often pick ceremony officiants that are friends and family members because they’re great speakers, funny, and/or charismatic — but that doesn’t mean they know where to start with the ceremony narrative. As a result, many officiants grab something generic off the web, and the ceremony lacks the personalization the couple wanted.”

This is one of my favorite points to make. Everyone obsesses over the vows and the toasts, but the ceremony itself — the part that’s actually the wedding — often gets handed to a friend a week out with no plan. Start it early, have a real conversation about the couple’s story, and you get a ceremony that sounds like them instead of a script pulled off the first page of Google.
